Horizon by SkyCity, Auckland’s new five-star hotel, is now open, making SkyCity the largest single-site accommodation provider in New Zealand, with 938 rooms across three hotels in the SkyCity precinct.
With 303 rooms, including ten exceptionally appointed suites, be lost in the views from the city to the sea. Hints of New Zealand can be found at every turn, from the selection of treats in the mini-bar, to the commissioned art and sculptures from local artists in room and in public spaces. Carefully considered materials reflect the natural landscape of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and the connection to the land, offering a grounded sense of place in public spaces for guests to gather, and stay.
Horizon by SkyCity was designed by Moller Architects, in collaboration with Warren and Mahoney who were the architects for the Sky Tower and The Grand by SkyCity. Taking inspiration from the natural environment and visible horizons, the exterior of the hotel offers a curved facade, connected by glass fins. Capturing the clear marine light of the Auckland isthmus, the curvature of the building offers unique aspect views from every room. Multiple entries to the hotel allow guests to transcend through the hotel, with pedestrian laneway and street-level access and connecting airbridges to the New Zealand International Convention Centre and SkyCity Entertainment precinct in the centre of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
The interior of Horizon by SkyCity features natural stones, marbles and timbers, with locally commissioned art and sculptures, and intricate materials used throughout the rooms and public areas to reflect the natural landscape. Nordic Brass and bespoke back-lit ceiling panels in the porte cochère are complimented by the rich American Ash timber, and the warm hues of the Honey Onyx wall in the atrium. Arabascato marble paves the road of connection throughout the lobby, while exposed pillars and beams provide a grounded sense of place throughout the lobby, restaurant and bar.
Joining two existing properties in Auckland, SkyCity Hotels will be the largest single site of accommodation in New Zealand, with 938 rooms across the three hotels in the SkyCity precinct. This gives the opportunity to entertain and connect both domestic and international guests with new experiences at SkyCity and wider Auckland.
With the Sky Tower on your doorstep, and access to the newest attractions within the precinct, Horizon by SkyCity is the ideal place to meet, and stay, at the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
