Island Aviation

Island Aviation, also known as Waiheke Wings, is the main fixed wing/airplane operator in the Auckland Region providing a scheduled service to Great Barrier Island twice daily.

Operating from North Shore Airport and Waiheke Island, our fleet includes one Cessna 172, accommodating three passengers, and two BN2A Islanders, each with a capacity for nine passengers.

We offer a range of scenic flights that highlight various parts of the Auckland region, with a minimum of two passengers and a maximum of 21 across our aircraft. Additionally, we organize all-inclusive day tours in partnership with local guides, experience companies, and vineyards, along with ground transfer services.

Our flights feature extensive commentary on the region’s geographical features and history, which consistently earns high praise from our customers. At Island Aviation, our goal is to showcase the stunning beauty and grandeur of the Auckland region and the Hauraki Gulf.

Sustainability:

In 2017, Island Aviation became Australasia's first ISO certified carbon-zero air operator, offsetting emissions through reforestation projects in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. We’ve embraced a local sustainability approach with tree planting on Great Barrier Island.

Operating daily flights over the Great Barrier Island, we monitor environmental threats, report oil spills, and respond to marine emergencies, strengthening our commitment to our community and sustainability.

North Shore Airport - Public transport to Hibiscus Coast bus station offering free pickups to North Shore Airport from the Bus station. Taxi and Uber accessible.

Waiheke Airport - The explorer all day bus tour (Bus stop 11, The Batch Vineyard) Is the closest bus stop to the airport with a few minutes walk after hoping off the bus. Taxi accessible as well.
