Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland will host the International Society for MR Radiographers and Technologists (ISMRT) Australia and New Zealand Chapters’ 17th annual meeting from 18 –19 November 2023 at Cordis Hotel

The meeting is expected to attract up to300 delegates working in the field of magnetic resonance radiography and technology for two days of plenary sessions, presentations, education, and networking.

ISMRT New Zealand Chapter president, Sarah Green, says the meeting will mark the first time the trans-Tasman chapters have met in person in New Zealand since 2015.

“Everyone is really looking forward to reconnecting again. You can only do so much virtually.”“The conference will be a wonderful opportunity to expand knowledge, build connections, meet new people, and highlight career opportunities amongst our talented MRI professionals,” says Ms Green.

“Meeting in Auckland allows for a diversity of speakers, and it gives New Zealand professionals the chance to attend the event closer to home. People love going to Auckland, it isa great host city.”

ISMRT Australian president, Maila Hughes, says continual learning and connecting is important in the profession. “The technology is always evolving, and new techniques come on board - it gives you confidence when it comes to trying something new if you can speak with someone already using it,” she says.

“Plus, people really see this meeting as an opportunity to catch up with family or bring family over as an extended holiday. Nobody here in Australia says ‘no’ to going to New Zealand!”

The event is supported by Tourism New Zealand’s Business Events team, and Auckland Convention Bureau’s (ACB) Auckland Business Events Fund, which offers investment to help secure national and international business events for the region.

ACB Manager, Ken Pereira, says that facilitating a platform for MRI specialists to upskill and network benefits everyone. “In addition, we get the opportunity to host Australasian visitors and showcase the great hospitality and amazing activities thatTāmaki Makarau Auckland and New Zealand have to offer,” he says.
